Description

Thank you for visiting! I specialize in making jewelry from second hand purchased or donated items that become something entirely new. I started this project of recycling in the summer of 2010 to learn for myself the techniques of jewelry making and to see where this journey takes me. Stay creative! ♥ ('Like' my work and stay updated on the recycling goodness at Catey's Corner on Facebook.)

Calla Lily: I think I do my best thinking when I am talking on the phone.
I have had this set up and ready to make for upwards of a month now, and I simply didn't know how to connect the calla lily to the pearls. Actually the pearls are a part of a previous project that I am remaking for the Vampire Ball in Portland...I didn't like how it originally turned out and I kept a single strand of pearls to make into something else.
Anyways, :) I called my grandmother to thank her for bringing her community together to help supply me with such a wonderful selection of assorted unwanted jewelry. I can never stand still and talk on the phone, I fiddle a lot. I ended up fiddling with the golden calla lily(previously a pin) and some odd new tool from a garage sale...in fact the fiddling went on and I soon wore a hole through the flower. Yay! I did the same thing on the other side and connected jump rings and finally finished the pearl necklace.
The necklace is made from purchased freshwater pearls and both black and smokey faceted crystal with clear glass beads on either side of each one and the backing is a mid sized lobster claw. The calla lily is the only thing recycled in this project. the pin that once held it was cut off and filed away for a smooth finish. The necklace was made to be worn with the flower laying horizontally, but I have become fond of wearing it diagonally as well like in the picture. It's all up to you! :)

I have a crescent moon of a similar design that I got at a consignment shop :) the lilly is very pretty, I think the pearls are a nice delicate touch, give a nice homage to the delicate colour of a real life lilly
